More Reasons Why We Need a POSAC Job Definition

Recent research reveals that many women do not expect to continue to work full time throughout their career, even including those with University qualifications.  You guessed it, this is because of the commitments required during child rearing.  Bringing up children and working full time is simply too demanding and our work culture only supplies high value jobs as full time jobs so women get squeezed out of the career promotion ladder as their child rearing demands increase.

The simple answer to this problem is to promote the creation of high value POSAC positions, which enable the primary parent, whether male or female, to continue to advance their career while bringing up their children.  Encouraging the creation of jobs that acknowledge the importance of the rearing of children has huge economic benefits as follows:

  • Qualified and highly valued employees are not lost from the workforce due to the incompatibility of work and child rearing.
  • The children of today are the workers of tomorrow.  In order to prosper economically our society needs to be able to continue to replace its own population and therefore child rearing needs to be actively supported.
  • Attention and support supplied to child rearing by the workplace culture is likely to result in higher quality young adults coming out of the education system and a reduction in psychological health problems.
